A JAPANESE CUISINE
Over the holidays I went over to this exquisite Japanese restaurant called OEDO. This is a chain restaurant. OEDO specializes in Japanese cuisine with a selection of sashimi and sushi. It is directly flown from Japan and prepared by trained chefs in traditional Japanese culinary art.
Other Japanese restaurants such as Naruto have similar food on their menu but when compared to OEDO, they cannot match their high standard. Naruto has very poor service and has no time management. You could be waiting for a long time without having being served. Naruto comes across as a posh and inviting four star restaurant but the food is very disappointing.
The interior design and layout of the OEDO restaurant is very traditional. They have awe-inspiring paintings and wooden floors transport us into an ancient Japanese culinary world. Food is served delicately in cutlery with traditional Japanese design by waitresses dressed in traditional kimono.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very quiet and calm; you can certainly relax and feel at home. The aromatic smells coming from the kitchen certainly make your stomach crave and rumble.
The service was of high standards. The waiters and chefs would interact and offer you the best options from the menu; they were also very humorous and kind which made our time there even more enjoyable. The food would was served in about 5-10 mins and it tasted fresh and full of flavour. We ordered beef rolls with miso soup as starters. The beef was very juicy and tender with herbs and spices to give the dish an Asian twist. The miso soup was extremely flavorsome with the right seasoning, It was creamy and rich. The soup was quite warm but the restaurant was very chilly so drinking the soup wasn’t uncomfortable. The main entrée was salmon with rice and cooked tofu. The salmon was covered with butter sauce which gave it a fatty but satisfying taste. The fish was cooked perfectly and was soft but not dry. The tofu was cooked well; crispy from the outside and lenient on the inside. It was cooked with butter and soy sauce to give it a savory test.
Overall the meal was sensational. The food wasn’t greasy but very light and easy to digest. It was healthy with some exceptions, but what made it an enjoyable meal were the people and their dedication towards making the dishes. They didn’t cook the dish just because it’s their job; they made it with passion to please their customers.
I would definitely recommend all my friends to come to this restaurant because of their high quality food they offer to the customers. Compared to other restaurants around Hong Kong this restaurant is actually worth spending your money on. It’s one of those few restaurants where they perfection is reflected in many areas.
