Rice used was 'Kuro Shari', where no white sugar was used; and mixed with activated carbon from palm kernel shells, hence the black color. Supposedly more healthy with low GI value.

Nothing near half-full. Paid a supplement of $120 for a small bowl of Barachirashi (sashimi cubes on rice).

Dessert: Mochi with small pieces of renkon (lotus root) in the middle.

In summary: Didn’t really expect much for $780. But the “satisfying” level of this lunch was pitiful even by my standards. Not to mention the wobbly table, the Persistent mosquito, massive gap in between courses and the Grumpy waitress. The only positive thing was the excellent service from the young French waiter. Unfortunately his cheerful and helpful attitude had no effect on his colleagues.
Reminder to self: think twice before agreeing to attend any more “pop ups”.
