Having been to few of their branches, including the one in Wan Chai and in Admiralty, I have an impression that Le Pan Quotidien are located in prime locations, but with spacious and open-style interiors. Among those, this one in Tsim Sha Tsui is the best I have been to, in terms of interior and location, not just among the branches but among other cafes too.The cafe is located near the sea, in a quieter and wider part of Tsim Sha Tsui. The cafe is located near the sea, in a quieter and wider part of Tsim Sha Tsui. Though it does not have the sea view but rather the road-view, it still gives one comfort and relaxation just by looking at the empty road, enjoying the breeze and the ray of sun under the shadow. Around here, you can easily spot people sharung a bottle of wine and those having Sunday brunch with the pet.
The food, I would say is not the best part of this cafe, but it has the average quality and goes along with what I would expect.
Below is the matcha scone with whipped cream and marmarlaid jam. I would expect the cream to be little stickier/ more durable, because once I scoop some out, the remaining cream would start to collapse and die off into a liquid. The jam is special and delicious.
The scone was more of a bread-type than having a harder or biscuity texture. Thus, it felt lighter and airier. The scone did not have much flavor in it (i.e., butter), so you can always stack a bunch of cream and jam.
On this day, we were served with a different scone that what we ordered, so I asked for the change. When asked, the staff was standing there aloof, staring at me. It could have been better if they were little more attentive and reactive. Additionally, the cafe appeared to be little understaffed when there were enough of them. People were often standing for a while before getting seated, unattended during dining, and even when asking for the bills.
I would not go for the waffle if I were to revisit. It was too sweet and little strange. Though I have not had too many waffles in Belgium, it tasted different from what I had, and was not like local Hong Kong style waffle either. It tasted somewhat fluffier version of the scone.
This is the original flavor scone, and it is similar to the one above. I just realised, it did not come with any jam.
The coffee is nice here and the portion big.
Generally, the whole bill was good value for money considering the vibe and the portion. If your are looking for the ‘best’ scone or coffee, this might not be the place, but if you are looking for somewhere to chill and relax, empty your mind for a bit, this is a the perfect place.
