I think everyone in Hong Kong has been to Freshtea by Happy Lemon. Originally Happy Lemon, this was the first bubble tea shop I encountered when I first moved here. From Taiwan, this shop started the salty cheese milk top. It was later rebranded to become Freshtea by Happy Lemon. Offering better tea leaves and more product choices. It has shops throughout the world including my hometown in Canada.

But with all the new bubble tea shops from Taiwan that have recently entered the city, Freshtea slowly became forgotten in Hong Kong. At first we thought they were all gone but then we walked by one in APM. It was still here! What a time to revisit and see if it's still the same.

The menu is in English and Chinese. As it's takeaway there is no 10% service charge. They now offer a lot more drink selections than before including the popular brown sugar milk tea and various fresh fuit teas. But they also still have their classic Oreo series and the  cheese topped versions.

And granola using their yogurt cheese topping as the base.

We decided to order a couple of drinks and wanted to try out their new item because we usually order this type of drink at another place whenever they have it. So, we wanted to see if it compares.

Boyfriend ordered the Roselle Smoothie with Salted Cheese ($36) because he said why go to Happy Lemon and not order the cheese topping? It was just as we remembered it. Salty and thick. The smoothie was blended well with bits of roselle. The sour sweetness from the flower shown through and complimented the salty cheese topping.

I had the Black Oolong Tea with Roselle Tea and Lemon and Jelly Crystal ($36). I liked mine more than boyfriend's. The tea was fragrant and this was a fairly sweet drink that was balanced out by the sourness of the lemon. Fresh lemon slices and roselle was found as well. But what I loved is the jelly crystals added. You have  a choice of jelly or jelly crystals and of course, I chose jelly crystals. Small, chewy and sweet.  They give you plenty of this as well.

Price is not expensive and size is large. Such a contrast to the competition where the price costs more and the portion is smaller. This makes it a very good deal that we had long forgotten. It tasted quite refreshing. It's a good thing we rediscovered this shop. And glad it's still around.
