Nishiki Don offers value-for-money Japanese cuisine from donburi, imported sashimi, cooked dishes and alcohol. Dropped by this restaurant a few times (from working nearby or before/after movies). The table wait-time is not long and the service is speedy and friendly.Tried their latest Soft Shell Crab Tempura Don and it was IG-able and delicious. A whole crab sitting on the bowl, and it stayed crispy and warm throughout the meal. I was surprised by the taste of the “decorations”: the pickled pink
Tried their latest Soft Shell Crab Tempura Don and it was IG-able and delicious. A whole crab sitting on the bowl, and it stayed crispy and warm throughout the meal. I was surprised by the taste of the “decorations”: the pickled pink ginger sprout tempura was sour & sweet (very appetizing), and I broke up the soba “tree” to make my rice crispy. The only room for improvement would be on the tempura sauce. It was tasted slightly dull and didn’t come with minced turnip.
The Double-decker Salmon Belly and Roe Don was fresh and savory. So many roes!! They explained the top half was with vinegar-sushi rice because of the sashimi, then when you hit the Seared Salmon in the middle, that was when you could pour the hot seaweed soup for the next-level experience (hot soupy rice). The second layer had a different type of Japanese rice. The whole idea of the dish was well designed. Great fit for the cooling weather.
Sake simmered clams were fresh and juicy. Paired well with our sake.
Enclosed are other lunch/dinner items that I had tried over time. They were all consistent.
