The pistachio cake is carefully layered--starting from a flakey and cakey base to a crispier biscuit layer, then a thick layer of green pistachio cream with a sprinkle of gelatin and plenty of heavy cream, and finally, a thin layer of unsweetened cream and a handful of chopped pistachios on top. Because of the extra thought given to the base, which gives the cake great texture and balance, I'd say this was one of the best cakes I've had lately. I'm not a big fan of mousse cakes, but this was luscious. For once, I'm not stuffing flour and sugar in my mouth--this is pistachio purée, egg yolks and fresh cream placed over a texture-rich base. I'm just worried about my calorie intake because I can't stop.

Tiramisù was somewhat of a disappointment. I guess the competition out there is greater. It was slightly too mushy, lacked the lightness of authentic tiramisù, and without being layered it was a bit off flavor-wise. But, if I wasn't expecting tiramisù, this would have been just alright.
