I love Sheung Wan for a reason. Countless small restaurants & cafes with personality! Lots of hidden gems in this district! Sinmei Tea is one of them. It’s located near to the Sheung Wan MTR exit A2. The cafe is on 5/F of a commercial building. You wouldn’t expect a cafe like this be exist just a few steps across the busy street of Dex Voeux Road.Sinmei Tea was named after the owner of the cafe, who is called Sin Mei. Sinmei Tea was named after the owner of the cafe, who is called Sin Mei. She is really a nice lady who like to talk to the customers. Found out she was also used to study at Australia!!! One thing in common! Her passion for tea & her vision leads her to open this cafe at Hong Kong.
Recommend everyone who want to go there should book for a table first, since their place is quite small. Most of the people would do the booking in advance, so if you choose to walk-in most likely there won’t be a seat for you/ have to wait a long time.
Sinmei Tea has recently added a few summery drinks on their menu. Matcha Caipirinha was what I chose.
Very refreshing!!!! It’s like drinking the fizzy drink without that excessive fizziness. But there was still a hint of green tea fragrance lingering around my tongue.
I have heard Sinmei Tea provides afternoon tea set long ago. Finally got chance to try it out.
But before the afternoon tea, some traditional Chinese tea was served.
Tea is always match with dessert as to help with the digestion.
NOW!!! Let’s get on with the tea set!
I have taste some matcha dessert that was just pure sweetness without the scent & taste of the matcha. Whoever have this experience before should totally try this matcha cheesecake, ’cause it will surprise you!
I SERIOUSLY CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THIS MATCHA YOYO!!!!!!!!!!!! SO YUM!!!!!!!
2 buttery biscuit with matcha cream sandwiched in between. Creaminess of the matcha filling with the crunchy biscuit just ticked all the boxes on my list as the perfect comfort food!!! If I wish I can have tons of this matcha yoyo for snacks for midnight craving!!
The matcha loaf cake was moist & strong in matcha flavor!!!!! YUMM!! I believe I can try to make this at home too!
The banana toffee cake has slides of banana on top of the cake. The cake is a bit dry though.
When I heard that tofu on a toast, I don’t know what to expect, since it’s a very unusual combination! But the egg, tofu & tomato sauce was surprisingly match with each other.
Except the afternoon tea set, some à la carte were worth trying as well.
Another à la carte that everyone need to try is their matcha angle cake.
All in all, this was a very satisfy matcha madness afternoon tea. I still have some matcha dessert I would like to try out, since it’s not available when I went there, e.g: the matcha panna cotta. So, I WILL BE BACK!!!!
