As most of you could attest to, it is difficult to find a decent restaurant at reasonable prices in the Canton Rd area. So when we saw the reviews for this budget restaurant, at the heart of this bustling shopping district in TST, we gave it a try.

The restaurant was tiny, packed with about 15 small tables. There was not much decoration, but the setting was quite comfortable overall and the large window made the space look more open than it actually was.

The food was typical Vietnamese. We ordered raw beef noodles, \"lo mone\", rice paper roll with shrimp, and stir-fried vegetables. The raw beef was very tender and juicy, noodles were cooked just right and the beef broth was flavorful and yet not too salty. The \"lo mone\" was equally delightful. The rice paper roll was rather dry and tasteless, but the flavorsome sesame sauce helped balance the dryness of the roll. The stirred vegetable (Chinese lettuce) tested my stomach, as it was rather greasy.

We were disappointed by the service. The staff were inexperienced, inefficient, and a couple of them were outright ignorant. When we asked whether we could change one item on the set dinner, a staff told us, with hesitation, that we could do so with a \"five or ten dollar surcharge\". It was a weird answer, so we asked for a more precise figure. The staff consulted a more senior person and came back to us with a \"no, you cannot change any item on the set dinner\", which was fine with me. Other than that, we also ordered another vegetable at first, but only until five minutes after we ordered a staff came back and told us the vegetable was not available. So we picked Chinese lettuce instead. As we should have expected from such an inexperienced staff force, BOTH vegetables were included in the bill. We asked a waitress to remove the first vegetable and she did so hesitantly.

For a restaurant in this premier location with good food on offer, it has the potential to become a shopper\'s favorite. But it has to train its staff better.
