Milky Cow has been around for a while already (not to be confused with the other Froyo “Cows” like Holy Cow and Holly Cow), and being the only Froyo place in this part of Mid-Levels near HKU and the school area, it's hard not to become popular among the younger generation. Before dismissing it as “just another Froyo place”, behold, there's something different...seats! This isn't a usual sight among Froyo shops in HK, apart from certain chain-operated establishments. Finally I can sit down and enjoy my Froyo.
Milky Cow only offers 2 flavors at a time, Original, and at the time of my visit, Raspberry. (I don't know if there are other flavors though.) You can mix both and make it a swirl, The Froyo cups come in 3 sizes which they call Small Moo ($20), Medium Moo ($25) and Large Moo ($30), and each of the over 40 toppings and sauces on offer costs $5.
My choice was a Small Moo of Original + Raspberry swirl with Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I couldn't see any “swirl” whatsoever as both flavors turned out to be the same color – white. So in one scoop I'd probably have included both flavors. Anyway the raspberry fragrance was “just there” but I guess it helped with the overall flavor as the tartness of the yogurt became evident. (Well, tartness is the essence of yogurt after all.) The texture was light and not too sweet. The cinnamon toast crunch were little sweet crispy squares sprinkled with cinnamon powder and tasted like, um, breakfast cereal.
Well, students would be happier coming to Milky Cow though, as the shop's offering complimentary toppings for a different school on each day of the week!
