(English review below)這間麥當勞有相當的優勢。首先,金鐘多打工仔,快餐店競爭不算大,再者這間分店裝修變靚左,還要成為Mirror期間限定主題店。這間旗艦店造勢造得這麽好,食物又如何呢?襯這次幫鏡粉朋友買餐抽卡,順便來這裏探個究竟。首先迎接我們的是鏡粉而不是Mirror。因爲麥當勞内外都滿是Mirror的照片,好多鏡粉都抱住Mirror公仔、鏡仔卡同其他道具滿場飛地跟現場backdrop合照。比起其他麥當勞分店,這裏裝修很不錯,檯凳、地板、照明、托盤都是光亮的輕工業風,而且比很多分店更乾净企理。氣氛就因爲Mirror推廣活動而特別高漲,除了店裏播放他們的歌曲,好多時連群結隊的鏡粉會因爲抽到心儀的鏡仔卡而一起尖叫,也會好開心地一起談論Mirror,跟平時只賣食物的麥當勞相比完全是另一個層次。員工也好像被感染到,笑容多了,也會幫顧客拿手機拍照。除了我們夠大食,麥當勞餐的分量本來就不大,所以我們兩人前後點了四人分量的餐。首先是二人麥炸鷄餐,兩件原味加兩件蜜糖BBQ麥炸鷄,兩份薯條同兩杯熱朱古力,再加兩張鏡仔卡。重點當然是鏡仔卡,揭開兩張卡發現居然是一樣的,朋友當然失望啦。

首先是二人麥炸鷄餐,兩件原味加兩件蜜糖BBQ麥炸鷄,兩份薯條同兩杯熱朱古力,再加兩張鏡仔卡。重點當然是鏡仔卡,揭開兩張卡發現居然是一樣的,朋友當然失望啦。至於食物,蜜糖BBQ麥炸鷄好瘦弱而且不脆,不過夠熱,原味麥炸鷄就不熱又不脆,好在麥炸鷄的雞肉是滑的,而且鷄皮味道跟足原本配方。薯條就好淋,而且味道比較淡,本身已經沒什麽薯仔香還要擅自少鹽,比平時更須加上茄醬調味。熱朱古力就很標準,所以是二人餐裏得分最高的項目……哎,麥當勞要檢討一下,爲什麽有Mirror帶動人流,間接增加食物流量,但仍然不能保持食物新鮮。
為盡量讓另外兩份餐更新鮮,我們吃完第一輪才點第二輪。這次有豬柳蛋漢堡、麥樂鷄、兩份薯條、兩塊爆蒜麥炸雞、兩杯可樂同兩張鏡仔卡。即時開卡,竟是一對一樣的卡(不過跟之前那對不同,所以總共有兩對)(15分數學題:假設所有鏡仔卡都真的隨機發放,請在留言位置作答以下問題-連續兩次抽兩張卡都抽中一對同款的機會率,並列出計算方法。我要follow10分或以上的同學仔。)。這次勝出的是豬柳蛋漢堡同麥樂鷄。它們賣點不是脆,只要保持一貫味道,再做好保溫就已經有一貫的味道和口感。這次的薯條終於有點脆了,但味道跟之前那兩份一樣淡,應該是同一批薯條材料,但這次是新一輪炸出來。爆蒜麥炸雞夠熱,但不脆,味道還不錯,不過原味更香而且有點辣所以比較耐吃。最後可樂涼快的泡泡舒展胃部,好舒服。
整體來説,環境加上限時活動帶動的氣氛,硬件做得好,讓這間分店突圍而出,至少説服到顧客這裏跟其他分店有不同,叫麥當勞Next。不過,麥當勞連鎖性的陋習還是沒有改變,就是薯條同麥炸鷄的新鮮度。這次感受到要吃脆的薯條的確要等運到;不過之前陳奕迅錄音廣告說麥炸鷄是落單后鮮炸所以特別脆,似乎現在已經無左件事,初出茅廬就當紅的麥炸鷄現在完全只是過眼雲煙,算了吧,我不會再有期望。至於鏡仔卡,就當我們只是幸運所以抽到兩對相同的吧,這個我反倒不太在意,只是我朋友在意。這次來的感覺是,如果只有硬件與其他麥當勞分店不同,而不求提供好更好的食物的話,那做完Mirror月之後,顧客就不用特地來這裏了。
This McDonald's branch had much advantage as there was a huge working population in Admiralty, and there were not many competing fast-food restaurants in the vicinity. Moreover, this store had been renovated well, plus it has become a time-limited flagship theme store of Mirror. I was curious to try out their food while helping my Mirror friend to come and draw some cards coming with sets.
What greeted us was not Mirror but their fans. Because photos of Mirror overwhelmed this place inside out, many fans were enthusiastically taking pictures of this amazing place together with their Mirror figures, cards and other props. Compared with other McDonald's branches, the decoration here was excellent. The tables and benches, floor, lighting, and trays were bright, light industrial style, and this place was cleaner than other branches. The atmosphere was particularly high because of the Mirror event. In addition to constantly having songs of Mirror in the store, there were many occasions when groups of Mirror fans screamed because of the cards they drew, and they happily talked about Mirror. It elevated McDonald's to a completely different level compared to the usual days when only food would be served. The employees also appeared to be ignited and were happier than usual. They had better smiles and helped customers taking pictures with their mobile phones.
The portion of McDonald's meal was small compared to our appetite, so the two of us ordered four portions of set meals.
The first round was crispy thighs set for two, there were two original and two honey BBQ crispy thighs, two French fries and two cups of hot chocolate, plus two Mirror cards. The main point was of course the cards, but they turned out to be two identical cards, so my friend was definitely disappointed. The honey BBQ crispy thighs were thin and not crispy though they were quite hot. The original crispy thighs were not hot nor crispy, but, well, at least they were tender and the taste followed the recipe. The French fries were soggy, and the taste was too light. It already did not have much fragrance from potatoes, and the portion of salt must have been reduced, which made tomato sauce an unusual must. Hot chocolate came at its standard, so it was the highest-rated item in our set... Sigh, McDonald’s should review why, despite the Mirror event already drove them more customers, it still could not keep their food fresh given the boosted food turnover.
We ordered the second round after the first trying to maximize freshness. The second round included McMuffin Sausage & Egg, McNuggets, two French fries, two pieces of garlic crispy thighs, two cups of coke and two pieces of Mirror cards. we immediately unboxed the Mirror cards but it turned out to be another matching pair of cards (15 points Math question: leave your answers at comments section- assuming that all Mirror cards were really randomly drawn, calculate the chance, listing out the steps, that two pairs of identical cards are drawn consecutively. I need to follow students scoring 10 points or more!). The winner this time was the McMuffin Sausage & Egg and McNuggets. Their selling point was not crispiness. As long as they maintain the consistent taste and are kept warm, they would already have nice and consistent taste and texture. This time the fries were finally a bit crispy, but the taste was still as weak as that of the first round. They should be the same batch of fries, but this time it was finally fried in a new round. The garlic crispy thighs were hot enough, but not crispy, and the taste was good given the hint of garlic, but the original flavor smelled more savoury and was a bit spicy making it more palatable. Finally, the cool bubbles of cola happily relaxed our stomachs.
Overall, the environment was good, and the time limited event further ignited the atmosphere, at least convincing customers that it was different from other branches thus can be called McDonald's Next. However, they still had the general bad habits of McDonald's of not keeping French fries and the crispy thighs fresh enough. This time I experienced ordering two batches of French fries having crispiness depending on luck; also, previously the promotional recording of Eason Chan mentioned that crispy thighs were fried only when the order was placed to keep them crispy, but it seemed that this was no longer the practice. I won't have expectations on crispy thighs anymore, unlike when it was first popularly launched. As for the Mirror cards, I guess there is a chance that we were just lucky so we got matching pair of cards twice. I can do nothing but to cheer my friend up. Seriously, if the decorations of this branch is the only thing distinguishing it from others, and that it has no determination to provide better food, then after the Mirror promotional event, customers do not have a reason to specifically come to this McDonald's Next.
