We come to Central Market quite a bit. But this time around, we noticed a few restaurant changes in the food court area. One was Pho Nho. We decided to give it try for lunch as it was the stall with the most amount of business. Menu is in English, Chinese and Vietnamese. Boyfriend had the Pho Bo Tai Bo Vien ($62). The soup was a very hearty clear beef soup. There was also a very large piece of daikon that was so soft, it soaked up the soup well. Portions were bigger than expected and we easily could share between us.
Beef balls were firm and full of beef flavour.
The beef was tender and melted in your mouth. There were several pieces and a decent size as well.
I decided to try the Bun Rieu Cua ($72). The tomato soup base had an intense tomato taste. It was also thick.
There were small shrimp balls that were still firm.
Plenty of crab paste and crab meat was added to the noodles as well. They also provided rice vermicelli so it was soaked up everything well.
Several slices of Vietnamese sausage was found that were thinly sliced.
We also shared a couple of snacks. These were piping hot and obviously made to order. This is the Cha Nem ($48). Very crispy and filled with mince. There was nuoc cham for dipping sauce and plenty of fresh lettuce for wrapping.
The Cha Tom Ngo Sen ($48) was my favourite. Not too oily. The lotus root was mixed in with the pork meat so you get a crunch in every bite. Usually I've had this and they just sandwich the pork meat between two slices of lotus root. I like this version. There was a side of pickled daikon and carrot to balance everything out.
Very surprised at the quality of food at a food court. Prices were fairly reasonable for the Central district. Portions were also generous. They don't sell drinks but you can bring your receipt to the drinks stall right next to it for a 10% discount. I'll definitely be back.
