Another year has come by and this year the girls are old enough to give me presents. So we went to celebrate at one of their favourite restaurants, Nha Trang, the Central branch. Another year has come by and this year the girls are old enough to give me presents. So we went to celebrate at one of their favourite restaurants, Nha Trang, the Central branch. It has to be the Central branch as the Wanchai branch, although nicely decorated does not have the same high standard for food.
This branch was under renovations last year and then too busy when we passed by the last time. This time we went late, after 1:30pm and only had to wait 10 minutes
We ordered some drinks, salted lemon sodas and iced lime tea.
We had Pho, the dish we have every time and the soup is rich and hot, full of flavour. The noodles and beef were just as nice
We had my daughter's favourite spring rolls and soft shell crab rice rolls. The rice rolls were good but thought the spring rolls could have been more crispy.
The mango salad was a disappointment and we must have been thinking of mango salad made the Thai way. This one had thin slices of mango but most of it was shredded cucumber and beansprouts with very little dressing and some very hard pieces of squid, should have gone for the pomelo salad which is a sure bet.
The best dish however was the sizzling Saigon crepe. This was made with lentil flour, fried and has pork, shrimps, bean sprouts and cooked with a light curry sauce. It is a very unusual dish and the tastes and textures came together very nicely.
It was a lovely lunch and we would always remember only to come to this Central branch.
