It was the night of the mother's day, last sunday,12/05/2013 when my children took me to the restaurant. It was the night of the mother's day, last sunday,12/05/2013 when my children took me to the restaurant. As whenever their school bus passes from that road where this restaurant is situated, they watch the restaurant. This was our third time when we dined at Isabella and it was as special as our first experience over there. Even though only my husband & I with my two children, we were offered a 6-seat table. First we were served by a basket of baguette, grissini, warmly toasted, crusty with tender inside, served nicely with the tomato spread accompanied and much better was the heated garlic clove (one can simply spoon it out and spread it on the bread), didn't have to ask for balsamic vinegar or olive oil as they are available on each table. We tried quite a few dishes, including Parma melon ham and appetizer platter, black mussel with cream white wine sauce, penne with tomato and chorizo . At first we cant decide of what to order, than I got this girl, pretty face very nice and sincere girl with big necklace, I believe she is the Manager, I asked her at least about 10 dishes, lastly my children ordered from the special menu of Mother's Day- Rib beef steaks and baby pork ribs she explained to me very well and quite patience. I meant to order another 2 more main dishes, but she suggest me see, luckily I listened to the advise,
Although it was the busy time of the restaurant, but the staff was caring the order of every customer as in the end we have to pack the left over food. Usually the restaurant staff is always pushing you to order more but in there they didn't do which make me appreciated their service and food more. Food wise, their recommendations are good, however the plate and board are too big and tables are too small.
The best dish I think is the black mussel and the penne pasta was also fine, I think it can be more creative , it's quite boring compare with other food. So the fresh prawn and spring chicken , I'll order next time.
The antipasto platter was a delight, with thick sliced and rolled tuna piece, 5 types of ham each with its distinct taste, freshly accompanied by the Caesar salad, well this isn't authentic and yet they match anyway, not to forget the tuna roll, smoked tuna mesh rolled with a slice of wheat bread was a surprise, and pork ribs brought another surprise with slight but strong flavours.
We ordered a pasta and a black mussel, while the plates were served, I asked to place them in the middle as we were going to share, But gosh, the two dishes had already been divided and was served in a single plate for each of us, how nice of them.
All in all the steaks are still very good. We tried the Argentinean rib eye. They actually took the sirloin off the menu, see pic of menu attached. These were done to various degrees of well-ness. All were superb. However, the Argentinean rib eye is still by far the best. I would recommend this anyway who want to try something different especially if you're a steak eater who's tried everything under the sun.
Other Info. :
We should have tasted the angus Argentinean steak first, coz it's subtle taste would easily be masked by the strong tomato flavor of the pasta. The tomato sauced penne pasta was indeed al dente with giant fresh prawns, scallops, mussels and clams, taste enlightened by herbs on top. Still I don't deny the well cooked pizza, cheesy and yummy with a slight flavor of truffle oil, one minus point would be the pizza was a bit dry, bit more crispy would complete the dish well.
Last came the dessert, we got tiramisu and espresso on top, there were some complimentary petit four which were very good.
The taste was good but itself was a challenge to taste, it's way too snobbery one's got to hold it at one end while trying to spoon it out on the other...
Quite frankly speaking ,the restaurant is cozy, nice, quiet and romantic. For the quality of food and service, I will say every penny is worth the value for money and this restaurant I would definitely recommend.
