I have only been to here for drinks, yet this time I am coming for their food. The head chef James Oakley has briefly explained the concept for this restaurant to us, they care and concern about the environment. Hence, they support “Responsible Dining”, by that it means make use of various sustainably-sourced ingredients for the dishes. The dinner begins with a Truffle Parfait, it looks like a whole black truffle. It is sorts of a truffle mousse coat with black charcoal powder, then few slices of truffle at the bottom. You can pair it with the cracker on the side or the bread from the bread basket, personally I like it with the warm bread more. I am quite stunned by its strong truffle flavour, it is super rich. The following dish would be Miso Marinated Black Cod, it comes along with a raw langoustine. I cannot eat the langoustine due to my shellfish allergy, yet I still get to enjoy the black cod. And no kidding, it is FREAKING GOOD! It is unexpectedly smooth and tender, this would be the very first time I prefer fish over a meat dish haha. The cod is marinated with Japanese miso, however the miso flavour isn’t that strong, which it doesn’t overshadowed the fresh taste of the fish.
Even though I praise the previous black cod dish a lot, this Organic Grass-fed Beef Tenderloin is also a delightful dish. The medium cooked tenderloin is topped a piece of deep-fried pig skin, it is super crispy and addictive. On the side, there is a piece of deep-fried ox tail and a potato gratin. I really like the cheesy potato gratin, the potato isn’t too soft nor too hard, it is baked perfectly. Back to the tenderloin, it is juicy and very tender, I do enjoy its light beefy flavour. Perhaps it can have a little bit more sauce for the steak and the deep-fried ox tail. We end the set dinner with a Manjari 70% Dark Chocolate Tart, somehow it looks more like a cake compare to a tart, it is because it doesn’t serve with a tart crust. Since it is made with dark chocolate, it isn’t that sweet and carries a rich chocolatey taste. The blueberries bring a bit of acidity to the dessert and it is paired with a scoop of sea salt cocoa sorbet, the sweet and salty flavour is just appealing!
