My last visit from Coffee Plus was nothing short of disappointment on the coffee. Staled imported bean usage despite lots of talk/warnings against it by coffee persons I know of confirmed what I get though I secretly hope the power that be changed his mind as the nicely decor and decent barista should make this cafe a great place for coffee lover. Surprisingly, my secret wish came through; the power that be changed the bean to locally roasted coffee via La Marzocco agent.!!! Spoiled for choice
very good. My 2nd cup (below) was quite similar to first one with Sidamo tone but a bit more acidic I think the second one is a bit too short though it still carries a nice ending of sweet and dark chocolate yumm! Nevertheless, I believe its black coffee offering can be significantly improved over time when its barista get more familiar with the blend. The remnant of staled import coffee was still on offering with the smaller grinder. While I suggest everybody to avoid this coffee, it's actually a good chance for those who always questions about the effect of the freshness of the coffee and why coffee enthusiast these days love freshly roasted coffee. Try both black coffee side by side to see how it is. I suggest one starts with locally roasted espresso first then 'downgraded' to staled imports which should allow you to sense how tasteless, rancid and horrible coffee past its prime condition will be.
In all, I'm glad Ciffee Plus finally crossover to the better side of coffee by using locally freshly roasted coffee. Locally roasted bean wit nice Sidamo note , very nice ambience, good milk drink, nice breakfast and good potential for food offering. You can try comparing imports and locally roasted coffee to understand why freshness is all the rage these days in the coffee world here.
Now I can say this for Coffee Plus: Life's too short for bad coffee. Drop by Coffee Plus when you are in Happy Valley area for a great locally roasted coffee!!!
