OK, I just point out three out of many small incidents during my 45 minutes visit in the dining room below:

1) I asked the wait staff: "Which pasta would you recommend?" Reply: "Mushroom Risotto"

2) There were only 2 tables of guests with three wait staffs in the dining room. After we were done with the bread and main course, we put the knives and forks together and in parallel implying that we were done (and all food except one piece of bread were consumed). The young wait staff looked at us and did nothing. The table was all full of empty plates and could hardly place the dessert. We had to call him to clean up the table before any action was taken.

3) This is gross, skip this if you are eating right now....... a couple was changing diaper for their baby at their table (the other table). It smelled and they simply put the dirty diaper (it is a "major" change) on the floor during the process (lasted for 5 minutes before we left in a hurry) which was visible to most angles in the dining room and was directly facing us. I would not comment if it is proper or not for them to do so in the public. All I want to say is while it happened, all three servers (one manager/supervisor and 2 juniors) were all hanging around without doing anything! I suppose they can do at least 2 things: 1) Politely ask the couple of move to another sheltered place (or restroom) to carry on, or 2) hold a table cloth around them to shelter direct vision of the process from other customers (i.e. us). But they were idle. We paid immediately and left and they still didn't realize what's going on.

It is supposed to be a upscale restaurant in a high-end shopping mall / store. Certainly the wait staffs are not well trained - the restaurant GM should ultimately be responsible. I have to say that the wait staffs in most restaurants in HK nowadays have become second tier when compared to those in Japan, Taipei or even Shanghai. Is it because of minimun wage? Or the "Hong Kong value" is no longer valid? Though these observations are only small matter, but their implications can be significant in the longer term - say in another 5 years. I somehow feel the declining of Hong Kong as a society...... Where has common sense gone these days?
