Atrocious, terrible staff at Joyous Restaurant at Hoi Lai shopping centre. On Sunday night, my family and cousins of 7 adults and four children (6 month old, 1 year old, 2 year old and 4 year old) had dinner at the un joyous restaurant in Hoi Lai Shopping Centre. We usually have dinner here every Sunday. Every sunday, we must always argue for a large table. The waitress that takes us into the restaurant always argues with us that the tables next to the pay counter (10 seaters) are big enough. We always tell them it is not. As you can imagine with babies we have a few bags....to cover baby food and emergency clothes, prams, baby chairs, etc.
Once again, I STRESS THE STAFF HAVE TERRIBLE MANNERS AND ARGUE WITH US A LOT. I have frankly had enough of the unhelpful waitress that shows us our seats plus the female manager in glasses. They whisper and gossip and do nothing good for the customers. Once again i have had enough with a whole year of arguing with the waiters. The restaurant manager tries very hard and is very competent, shame his staff cannot learn and will not change. The standard of service is sub par and cannot be tolerated in HK. Global standards which includes that of mainland China are much better already.
Also, the table next to us only had 6 adults and 3 children (ages from 6 to 12). They had no problems getting a 14 person table at all. I have spent 5 yrs eating here....but now this rubbish place has unleashed my absolute disgust. The restaurant only had 10 occupied tables (out of at least 150 total tables) when we arrived.
The whole experience really detracts from the food - which is acceptable at the best of times. Given limited choice around the area, the restaurant has always been our 'local' place. However, not anymore - we are not committed to walking another 10 mins to the MTR for more decent food and quality service, even if it costs us a little more.
Buying takeaway from there is another shocking experience as well....once again no form of modern day service at all.
Other Info. :
Told the restaurant manager about not wanting to argue with them anymore. He gave me his business card and told me to book next time! ...why do i need to book a restaurant that is never ever full! We always arrive before most patrons due to the children's 'early' schedules. His business card also had emails that 'fail' when you send a message.
