Dinner with MeatLover. Excited to try, given our previous enjoyable experience at Ask for Alonzo. Ideally the more the merrier to try out the different cuts, but 2 of us was good enough. 4 pieces of croquettes filled with pulled pork trotter. Sweet and sour mayo on the side. Crispy and quite filling, but not too heavy.

Main course to share: charcoal grilled Hungarian Mangalitsa pork chop tomahawk. Mangalitsa translates to “hog with a lot of lard” and is pronounced mahn-ga-leets-ah. Indeed, it is one of the fattiest pigs in the world. It also has a lot of curly hair, resembling a sheep. Smelt very aromatic form the grill, highly marbled with creamy white fat with a melt-in-your-mouth consistency, buttery flavour and very tender. Didn’t even have to flavor with the pork jus on the side. Also on the side: long strips of cucumber & dill; super spicy jalapeño pieces and cajun french fries (shoestring).

In summary: must-try for pork fans. However, restaurant does not serve only pork, there’s something for everyone- a lot of vegetarian choices and seafood dishes to choose from. Excellent service; tables-for-2 were a bit small tho- the heavy fork and knife kept falling off the small plate and onto the table.
