Today I went to try the new McVeggie at McDonald's, as I thought it may be a healthier option while wanting to eat McDonald's.

I ordered the burger (without dressing) on a la carte ($15.80) and also a chicken salad meal($39) which came with a drink (I chose soya milk). The McVeggie set meal came with fries and drinks but I guess fries shouldn't be an option for me who was hoping to eat healthily.

The burger was of reasonable size, and in accordance with their promotion on the official website, there were peas, mashed potatoes, carrots and mushrooms inside.  However, the patty of veggies was so thin even with the fried bread crumbs.

The chicken salad was so-so. The vegetables were of normal quality though I would not say it is especially fresh. The chicken was lean and looked healthy but it was too heavily seasoned.

For the McVeggie, I tasted the patty and the fried bread crumbs cover separately.  The patty of veggies had too much pepper and probably MSGs. I think it doesn't taste too good, and obviously it was not because I had not ordered for any dressing but that the fried bread crumbs and the patty itself were too heavily seasoned. The lettuce inside the burger was so-so and the bread was just like any burger you would get in MacDonald. In the end, because the fried bread crumbs looked quite fatty, I removed the fried bread crumbs on the top and bottom (which came off easily) and just eat the burger with the patty of veggies. My mouth still felt so thirsty after eating the burger and the chicken.

For vegetarians, the McVeggie may be an option at McDonald's but I would not recommend it bcause of the heavy seasoning and MSGs.
