I actually frequent Pak Kee about once a week...and have tried almost all their products. This and St Lolan are my fave bakeries in the area due to its dirt cheap price and really tasty products. On a recent trip to Hoover in Kln city, I've decided that Pak Kee's egg tart ($2.5) is actually much better. Hardly ever over-done, with a very crisp puff pastry which is void of extra oil/lard. The best bit however, is their custard. It is very smooth and creamy and has the right consistency and right

It is very smooth and creamy and has the right consistency and right sweetness.

Their paper lined sponge cake($3.5) was also better. It is large, crazy-light and slightly eggy.

The Sesame bread ($6/loaf) actually was not all looks and had a distinct taste of black sesame, unlike other versions i have tried.

However, the cheesecake ($7) was not quite good. They have mastered the taste and creaminess of the japanese soft sponge cheesecake, but I think when they were baking it some water got through because the bottom was actually wet
. Perhaps this was a one-off mistake, but since I haven't had the urge to try it again.

All in all a very good bakery =)
