I was walking around queens road central and saw this bakery AFTER having just been to the 'French Bakery' (another chinese bakery on centre st.). I bought a loaf of white bread, a polo bun with custard filling and a plain polo bun for comparison with the previous bakery...Verdict: White loaf $5/8 pcs This bread so really soft, I mean so soft - the type that would be a waste if you toasted it. Verdict:
White loaf $5/8 pcs
This bread so really soft, I mean so soft - the type that would be a waste if you toasted it. People who love soft white bread should definitely give this a try. It is far better than the crappy garden stuff you get in supermarkets....
In comparison to the French bakery this was also much tastier. The reason being french bakery's version has a slight weird after-taste to it... I can't identify the taste though...
Plain polo bun - $2?
This was a square bun - the one with custard filling is triangular in shape so the shopkeepers may identify the difference.
This was also ridiculously good. It was the right sweetness, and if you have a toaster oven at home I would definitely recommend using it, otherwise try to buy it when its fresh out of their ovens! Pak-kee at the top of centre st and the french bakery cannot compare.
Polo bun with custard - $3.50
This had the same topping as the plain one, except it had a yellow custard filling which I am pretty sure is made from custard powder, but was still much better than the french bakery's version. At the same price, I would recommend going to this bakery instead since for some reason the custard in the french bakery has a really really awful after-taste. The custard here was generous but didn't 'spill' as you bit into it....it was just sweet enough too!
