新斗記 is at the heart of Jordon. The speciality of the restaurant was the suckling pig. It was quite eye-catching to see roast suckling pig cooked live by the chef next to the reception. We arrived the restaurant 30 minutes early, was very excited about the suckling pig. However, the receptionist asked us to take a seat and we eventually waited 30 minutes before we were sited. The worst of all was her manners, the reason we were not seated was because the customers were eating. It would be understandable if that was true (operating at full capacity), clearly not. Finally, we were taken to the table, which was empty since 7:30pm, how wonderful.

We ordered the roasted suckling pig, dried scallop with egg white fried rice and stone pot Chinese cabbages. I was curious why the fried rice was served before the suckling pig and took about 45 minutes before the stone pot cabbages was delivered to the table. Perhaps they ran out of pots and they needed to sharpen the knife to slice the pig!

The suckling pig was genuinely good, with crisp skin with a little bit of honey flavour, yet not too salty. The meat has a lovely flavour, which wasn’t dry (a lot of restaurant over cooked it). More importantly the juice of fat was well sealed inside the meat!

The Chinese cabbage was cooked on the table with the heated stone pot! The cabbage was well cooked, but lacked spiciness from the chilli. Nonetheless, I was overwhelmed with the idea to serve the cabbage on the table.

The fried rice was quite a disappointment. Fairly average, the level of cooking was no better than Cantonese style tea restaurant.

The food was all right and the service was poor. One Michelin star restaurant, frankly laughable! Perhaps should revisit with a group of mate to try more dishes for a fair review.
