Just like typical family gathering, we always yumcha in whatever with short queue especially during weekend. Sadly, short queue possibly correlated with its quality and staff attitude 😂 My family was asking for seats while one staff told the wait took hours and left us there without tickets. Empty seats and tables were obviously seen from the entrance and some were even cleaned up. We asked another staff for tickets to queue. The funniest thing was she led us to a table immediately.😂🤔 Those who
My family was asking for seats while one staff told the wait took hours and left us there without tickets. Empty seats and tables were obviously seen from the entrance and some were even cleaned up. We asked another staff for tickets to queue. The funniest thing was she led us to a table immediately.😂🤔 Those who were waiting immediately started to ask that staff instead of waiting for nothing😂😅
Once seated, at least two staff were rushing for orders while it wasn't even approaching late afternoon or their closing time. We quickly finished our order: char siu bun, fried shrimp and scallions rice rolls, spring rolls, steamed glutinous rice dumplings, egg tarts, steamed chicken with bean curd, steamed mushroom and vegetables buns, steamed sliced squid in satay sauce and stuffed turnip slices pastry balls.
I would review those I tasted or something I would like to highlight.
Char siu bun was huge. Served in hot bamboo steamer. Internal char siu was quite sweet and sauce was thick. Bun itself was quite white😂 and very soft.
Fried shrimp and scallions rice rolls was very disappointing. Served in cold while soy sauce was warm😂 I guess, expecting pouring the sauce to warm up the rice roll (think in a positive way)?🤷🏽♀️ Another fault that I must comment was I could only find one shrimp on every three rice rolls. Even one rice roll had no shrimp and scallion😂 What a mix of plain and shrimp scallion rice rolls 🤷🏽♀️
Spring rolls were crispy and savoury. Steamy hot filling. Filling was juicy and very flavourful. Spring rolls were wrapped with Chinese chives mixed with pork. Not bad!
Glutinous rice dumplings was alright. Not too much rice. Rice and toppings were in balance ratio. Steamy hot. Again not bad.
Steamed mushrooms and vegetables bun was served in light green bun. Bun was a bit tough, tougher than the char siu bun. I was expecting the bun stuffed with mushrooms but black fungus. Not much veggies. Tasted bland.
Stuffed turnip slices pastry balls were not bad. Very crispy and flaky pastry. It held in shape when bites. Turnip stuffing was sweet and again steamy hot. Not bad👍🏾
Lastly, egg tart was served in cold but on warm plate😂 It wasn't too sweet. Pastry was alright. Not a bad one if you want something sweet/pastry.
It was kind of a weird experience that food quality fluctuated😂, kept giving good and bad surprises.🤷🏽♀️ Once all food were served, staff stopped rushing us and let us sit until we go.🤷🏽♀️ I would say I dont mind to come again only if I can just walk in without unnecessary waiting😂
