With branches at New York, Los Angeles and Singapore; Lady M stirred up a storm almost immediately upon its arrival in Hong Kong. Since I really dislike waiting in line, my friends and I decided to go as soon as they open in the morning, for breakfast!! XDLocated in the middle of the shopping mall, the lineup area, cake display and dining room are all very open to public. The use of simple décor, mostly in white color and all glass cake display case really fits the elegant theme of Lady M.There

There was still a line, of course, but it was better than the 1.5 hours wait most people reported. I think we waited for about 45 minutes. When we were next in line, we were given the menu to read, because you actually order at the cashier when you get the table, and they will bring it to you. In order to make the wait and the trip worthwhile, we decided to try all flavors of their famous Mille Crêpes offered!

While Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop is charging $45 for their Mille Feuille, Lady M’s comes with a $68-$75 price tag; my expectations were honestly quite high, however, they failed to deliver.

Signature Mille Crêpes was heavy, heavy in a way that its cream layers were just an overpowering taste of milk. The cream was smooth, the crepes were thin and average, but the taste was just “too much milk”. It was not the nice creamy and rich complex egg custard kind of heavy, just simply milky.

Agreeing with most reviews, the Green Tea Mille Crêpes was the best out of them all. Tons of green tea powder on top and throughout the crepes made it less milky and a little bitter. If you like green tea products you will like this one.

Citron Mille Crêpes was the seasonal special, after trying the signature I was hoping the citron component would cut into the overly milky cream and offer a better taste; it kind of did, but did not turn out better as I had hoped. It was lemony and not as milky, but the flavor was not incorporated well with the cream. It was not a refreshing citron aroma, just another heavy crêpe cake on the sour side.

Banana Mille Feuille, the cream tasted the same as the original Signature Mille Crêpes, only that there are chunks of banana in the middle; pastry was heavy in butter flavor but not crispy or fluffy enough. This one was not even worth trying.

Disappointed to say the least, it was way overpriced for a kiosk looking shop in the middle of a shopping mall. The only reason for it to be worth trying is for the sake of trying, and to be able to say “I’ve tried Lady M and it wasn’t all that”.
