One funny fact about my family is that we have actually never eaten at Pizza Express, despite its proximity and our frequency in walking pass it. Pizza Express is, to us, a place that we will always forget when searching for a place to eat comfortably near home - and last sunday we finally got the chance to actually try it out.

We walked in and easily got a table. Opening and reading the menu, we were amazed by the price of the food - they are actually cheaper than what we have always been anticipating for!
We quickly settled for:
Appetizer: a grilled ham and cheese mushroom:

a 4/5 - the mushroom was quite tender and juicy, but the lack of seasoning made it a bit bland in taste. The ham and cheese was alright, but the cheese could have been stronger. All in all, a good dish for 3-4 to share.

Salad: one small chicken caesar and one small tomato with mozzarella salad

Both came with the signature dough bread which tasted like chewy bagel holes. The tomato and mozarella salad was alright, but the portion was a little too small. as for the caesar i'd rather have the dressing pre-mixed with the veggies for the sauce was really thick; but the taste was alright, except for the annoying lukewarmness of the dressing. id always prefer icy cold dressing over lukewarm ones.

Mains: pizza with mushroom and truffle oil

a true delight - 5/5! at the first bite you tasted the amazing sweetness of the black truffle oil - the mushroom toppings were alright, but i felt the cheese was not enough. but the truffle oil had worked as a catalyst and the one-and-only stimulant to the taste buds - without it this pizza would just be another which i would put aside and not fall in love with.

3/5 - shockingly similar to the local version served at chaa chen tangs. the sauce was really thick. the pasta was too round for me. all in all, this is not something that should have appeared in a restaurant like this.

In general - an economical and satisfying place to dine. im sure that my family and i would come again and again - and im going to order the peking duck pizza next time i visit!
