I was here last night with my wife. There was live music (on a Tuesday!) and it was pretty good-- not that I'm a connoisseur of Indian music or anything. That's probably the most positive thing I can say about the place.

We had the dinner buffet, so maybe the food is better a la carte. I had a little bit of most everything from the buffet, but none of it was good, and some of it was bad. Several of the curries were just pretty bland even though you could see whole spices and cilantro etc right in the dish-- I don't quite know how they managed that feat. The chicken in all the chicken dishes was tough and overcooked. The rest of the meat wasn't particularly tender either. The insides of the samosas were mushy and the outsides weren't crispy or flaky (the mint chutney was good though). My dosa, even though it was made fresh right in front of me, was soggy and bland. Luckily they had whole green chili peppers, because I had to eat several just to give my food some flavor.

Food: 3/10

The service, too, was terrible. Even though the food was bad, I stuffed myself. That's how buffets work. So I asked for the check and guy I asked proceeded to insist that we have dessert, even after we both said, "no thanks, we're full." He eventually argued my wife into getting some dessert, and never brought the check. We had to ask for the check a second time, and this was compounded by the fact that at least one of the servers was clearly ignoring us. Getting the bill and leaving should not be a frustrating experience, and the waitstaff has no business pressuring you into more food, even if it is free.

Service: 3/10

Finally, there was the price. We had the dinner buffet and 2 sodas each for a grand total of $680. I have never in my life had a buffet that was worth $680 (unless you count open bars), and this was no exception. I understand that SOHO is expensive, but for a sub-par buffet Save your money and go elsewhere.

Price 2/10

I already said it, but I'll say it again: save your money and go elsewhere. Final score: 3/10
