On our way to Tai O on a rainy day, boyfriend and I ate here as it looked nice. They had set lunches for around $50 which only included a main and coffee or tea. Iced drinks add $2. Addition of soup was $8. 10% service charge only on weekends and public holidays.Boyfriend ordered a sole with cream sauce and rice set lunch which cost $66. Veggies were bland. Boyfriend ordered a sole with cream sauce and rice set lunch which cost $66. Veggies were bland. Fish was ok but the sauce tasted like canned sauce. Sprinkle of raisins were odd. Portion size was small.
He also added a soup of the day which was chowder. No specifications on type of chowder, just chowder. Otherwise known as cornstarch and cream. Portion again small. Served in a coffee cup.
I ordered the seafood linguine with fish roe sauce lunch ser for $66. That was a mistake as well. The clams still had sand in them. There was way too much sauce, making the pasta soggy. The sauce was also bland and not a hint of spicy as usual fish roe sauce. Portion size small.
Coffee was horrible. The usual burnt flavor you get from McDonald's coffee. Disappointing as the restaurant is called Cafeholic, one would expect a decent cup of coffee.
Boyfriend found out this place is owned by the group who does a fast food congee chain. Why they would expand into Western food and not do a good job of it is beyond me.
Will not return.
