Never look down on ladies' persistence - not only on hunting preys in shopping malls, but also on paying visits to restaurants on our to-go list by squeezing any possible chance. Never look down on ladies' persistence - not only on hunting preys in shopping malls, but also on paying visits to restaurants on our to-go list by squeezing any possible chance. There have been times that we targeted Popsy for a weekday lunch but failed due to full booking, and even during the Restaurant Week, we failed to squeeze in as well. Not letting our floral date slip away, we finally managed to grasp the discount of Brunch Weekend launched by another F&B platform (http://www.brunchweekend.hk/), which makes the second purchase in half price (Remarks: not sure if this will be launched again, the previous one was from 20 to 29 May 2016).

Even if such discount doesn't come again, Popsy is still an aesthetically pleasant eatery to visit, particularly appealing to girls and clean eaters. Well-built men may not find it satiating enough as red meat is not the focus here.

What draws our attention for a weekday lunch is the salad bar and various options of main course to go for ($198-298 with salad bar inclusive). We girls don't usually crave like carnivores, therefore a $168 salad-bar-only option is perfectly alright.

To enjoy the ambience to the max, a higher price for weekend brunch ($338 with a main course) is worth paying for, at least to enjoy the full four-hour stay without devouring, to appreciate the artsy decor by heart and to have a taste of its wide range of delicacies on the buffet table, which offers far more than mere salads on weekdays.

We arrived at the venue at around 12.30pm, not all seats have been filled up until 1pm, probably lazybones enjoyed a good sleep before a sunday brunch. The square buffet table was oozed with a multitude of appetiser, salad and dessert options, not spreading out but were decently placed in various heights like a pyramid!

This is where flower lovers in town would love to congregate - clear and bright interior with floral and artwork as decoration, ethereal enough especially for those clining from the ceiling like an indoor inverted garden.

Seats are spacious enough for a good stay. Not only floral elements, but also marble desks to create the elegant and classic ambience. Bright but comfortable lighting further kills much memory of our cameras (no slip-of-tongue to say killing films..lol).

Variety is large enough for us who loves salad, cold cuts and meats, though carnivores may not be at all satisfied as there is no carving station like those in hotels (pricing does matter).

Cold cuts, meat and cheese platter are served alongside various kinds of dressings and sides. At least three kinds each is adequate for our selection if one is not very much picky on a fine gradient of meat coarseness of salami.

To make the "b" out of the word "brunch", breakfast signatures such as croissants and egg salad appear as tempting treats.

Berries.. not sure if this should be categorised as part of dessert area, but to me, a garnishing element on top of DIY salad! Happy to see blueberries coming with raspberries and blackberries to make it a full gamut of berries.

Taking a scoop of each like sampling, I was especially drawn to the smoked salmon, quinoa, fresh crab meat salad and macaroni served with a shell. Salads are ideal refresher for the day and these all lived up to my expectation.

For desserts, they look even more hearty - mini cones with mousse in rose pink, BLUE-coated chocolate marshmallow (aqua theme?) and sweet potato waffle tarts caught most of our attention!

Desserts in fact occupy half of the table and due to petit size of each, one can easily fill up a plate simply by taking one each. Tarts and cones are all in grab-n-go portion which lets us nibble bit by bit without realising how much we have in fact taken!

Mango panna cotta, particularly with the paper umbrella which resembles those I found on jelly bowls in Chinese restaurants in my childhood, and the sweet potato waffle tart won my vote amongst desserts.

Not in ordinary flavour, mango did a little zesty highlight but in velvety smooth texture. Coming along with berries and crumbles, it is an appetising option after devouring much of the cold cuts and flavoursome meat slices.

Mashed sweet potato superbly filled up a coin-sized waffle base. It is not heavily sweetened and we simply couldn't stop by just having one! Crunchy waffle base plus tender filling made a really perfect match.

Main course
One may easily overlook other offerings outside the buffet table - the main courses! It happens every time when having semi-buffet meals that the focus is always on the buffet but not the main course. Sad but true, we the greedy pigs love to grab as many as we can! Among 6 options, we picked two main courses which are relatively light, given that we placed much of our quota on the buffet table already.

Another signature item for brunch should be omelettes! It looked plain and not at all glossy for the surface, in fact all treasures were hidden inside the pocket. Adequate amount of mushrooms was well blended with melting parmesan cheese, though it wasn't as cheesy as expected. Optimum level of flavours is balanced with herbaceous potato cubes next to it. A clean and healthy option to opt for, if the buffet table is able to satisfy your remaining craving desire.

This dish appears in the main course option for weekday lunch as well. Alluring as it seems, by crisping up the skin to golden yellow. It wasn't greasy at all, but sufficed to satiate cravings for fried food. Fluffy cous cous served as a good alternative to any other kinds of starch too.

For drinks, we both picked Earl Grey Peach Ice Tea among the list of summer specials. Simple but well hit the spot as a thirst-quencher!

palate \ˈpa-lət\ : the sense of taste
palette \ˈpa-lət\: the set of colors put on the palette

Either palate or palette? The two coincide here. If you ever notice, there is in fact another eatery named "The Popsy Room", which features more on fine-dining and artwork. We enjoyed our brunch not only on its food, but very much on the atmosphere permeated with unpretentious floral elements. Would love to be back for weekday lunch but surely a weekend stay is more rewarding than the weekday hassles!
