Afterwards I receive email and SMS message for my confirmation.
On 14/9 around 10.15 am I received a phone call from receptionist S again asking for confirmation. I again reiterated that I would prefer a window seat as it is for birthday celebration but she firmly said it’s not available because I booked on same day ( which is in fact 1 day prior )and we have to make booking at least 1 week prior to ask for window seat. I dined several times at their place before and we were fortunate enough to get a window table each time. Asking whether she can do the same offer again but she refused in a very impolite way. I asked for her name but she refused to disclose . I then asked whether I can talk to another staff or manager but she also refused rudely. Before further discussion she even cut my line all of a sudden !! I was really upset but thinking that I’ve dated my friends for this gathering it’s not practical to switch venue at this late stage.
When I arrived I was cared by another staff D who was kind enough to bring me to a table by the window. She even showed me the whole reservation plan with her tablet and showing me that at least 3-4 window tables are available for me.
After seated S came ( again with an unpleasant expression ) saying that she has arranged a window table for me ( which is of course not the truth as per our phone conversation )
I’ve met maybe up to a hundred receptionist and I believe a proper way to say would be (… sorry sir our window seats are really tight and we cannot promise at the moment but we would certainly try our best to help…) in contrast to the way she handled. The image of Isola is definitely ruined by such rigid , stupid and impolite receptionist , I have to say.
I hope the management could review the situation and bring room for improvement. I doubt whether continue hiring such a receptionist , or as a staff at all , would bring any benefit to the restaurant
