RB Tea is a classic. Though I didn't grow up here, I know that RB Tea is a place that is popular for their bubble tea and inexpensive snacks that bring in lots of students. But recently, RB Tea has redesigned themselves with a whole new look and focus.

A new shop opened in Causeway Bay. Inside a shopping center that is more popular for selling clothes and accessories geared for women. But recently, the top floor of this shopping center has undergone a renovation and now there are two restaurants. One is RB Tea. For nostalgia sake, we decided to eat there one evening.

RB Tea has made over their restaurant to make it more like a cafe. It is now more spacious and more comfortable than I remembered. They appear to have a woodland theme.

They have a la carte along with value sets. Menu is in English and Chinese. It appeared that they now offer cafe style dishes such as pasta and all day breakfasts. Such a difference from the inexpensive snack food and bubble tea from the old student days.

I saw something interesting. Apparently they had a current limited time promo featuring popcorn. So in addition to a dinner set, we ordered this as dessert to share.

Ordering is in the form of checking off a piece of paper along with your table number. Take this to the cashier and pay (cash only, no 10% service charge). They will  bring the food to you when it's ready.

We ordered one dinner set and one a la carte item along with the popcorn set so I  could have the popcorn drink.

Dinner Set D: Spaghetti with Scallops in Japanese Spicy Teriyaki Sauce ($88). This came with an appetizer, soup and drink.

The appetizer was a tomato salad. This was fairly ok. The tomatoes were drizzled with a little bit of balsamic dressing.

The soup was a cream of mushroom. This was just your typical cafe style soup so it just tasted like flour.

The pasta was al dente. It was not too spicy and not overly sweet as I feared teriyaki sauce sometime is. There were some grilled eggplant. This was fairly alright.

Boyfriend had the drink. This was milk tea with pearl sago. It was a lot milkier in taste than we remembered. The sago was soft and chewy.

Bolognaise Fusilli in Cream Sauce ($58). I ordered this a la carte. Piping hot from the oven, this was something I like when eating cafe style food. The fusilli was still al dente when it came out. The tomato sauce was fairly rich and there was a nice amount of cheese on top.

Popcorn Set ($94 includes one Popcorn drink and Popcorn waffle). Order the set as it is much more of a deal. Otherwise, the waffle is $62 and the drink is $44 for chocolate and $42 for milk tea.

This is the chocolate popcorn drink.  It seemed the popcorn had sunk down a bit as opposed to the advertising photo. The chocolate was pretty good. A sweet rich chocolate drink. The popcorn was crunchy but the ones that were close to the liquid made them soggy. I would suggest eating all the popcorn first. The popcorn was the caramel kind so pretty sweet.

The popcorn waffle was pretty good. The waffles were crispy without being dry. There was a generous drizzle of chocolate sauce and scattering of the same caramel popcorn found in the drink.

Black Cherry Cheese Mille Crepe ($20). Boyfriend added $20 for a dessert to go with his dinner set. It may not be Lady M, but it is not too bad. The crepes were thin.  The cream was slightly sweet. There was a layer of black cherries that were soaked in syrup to make them sweet and juicy.

Comfortable setting and not noisy. Food is fairly decent and fairly inexpensive. A quiet place for me to just relax in Causeway Bay without people bumping into my chair. I will be back.
