Came here with a friend for afternoon tea today. I've heard quite a lot about Antique Patisserie and decided to come here instead of going to Sift around the corner. Environment: This is where Antique really shines. When you first walk in the place almost looks like a Christmas bakery wonderland with it's tower of macarons and all the baked goodies. Once you are inside the place is pretty comfortable and chill. Place is a little on the small/cozy side but it seemed like a nice getaway from the regular hustle and bustle of Central.
Service: I thought they were a little on the slow side here. After we made our decision the eating area of Antique was without servers for about 5+ minutes so we couldn't place our order. When the waitress finally came (she was a junior shop assistant) she did struggle a little with our order (I repeated our orders in both Cantonese and English). Service wasn't bad by any means (the servers were friendly) but I definitely thought efficiency could be improved.
Now onto the food:
US Cheesecake - Cake was pretty tasty (a little more on the cheesy side) and dense but didn't feel all that heavy. Definitely an above average cheesecake but I wouldn't say it was great by any means. Considering it is one of their 'signature' cakes...I was a little disappointed.
White Chocolate Raspberry Cake - Visually this cake was pretty damn cute with the little snowman on top. Taste wise it was actually pretty good. If you got all the filling (there was raspberry jam in the middle and chocolate soft breading/crust on the bottom it was a nice bite. Standout really was the raspberry filling. I noticed when you cut the cake apart only the right side of the cake had all 3 flavors and the left side only had the white chocolate which I thought was a little strange. Pretty good cake.
Raspberry and Chocolate Macaron - Pretty excited to try this since this is one of Antique's signature food. Sadly it was kind of disappointing. The chocolate macaron tasted of intense dark chocolate but I found the macaron quite dry. The raspberry macaron fared better since the raspberry filling was actually quite chewy (like caramel/toffee texture) and tasty. Pretty decent macarons but I would say they are above average at best.
Peach Black Iced Tea - To me this was way too sweet and syrupy tasting. The tea itself is hot and they throw in ice but even after a while my 'iced' tea was still only 'warm' tea at best. Kind of ruined it for me.
Overall I can see why people like this place. The environment is quite enticing and different. Sadly, at least in my experience the food was decent but definitely could use some improvement.
