Crystal Jade is very popular and there is always a queue for dinner. Crystal Jade is very popular and there is always a queue for dinner. We had six groups in front of us when we arrived and waited for ten minutes, though we were provided with a menu order form so we could be served as soon as possible when we were seated. The decorations are nice with themed paintings, light fixtures and modern furniture. The space between tables is a close but there is enough room on the tables for all of your dishes.

The staff very busy and you have to flag them down for ordering more food or the bill. On the other hand, our tea glasses were filled regularly.

He loves spicy food and ordered the chili oil la mian with beef shank, which was really, really hot. Our friend from Taiwan thought it was overwhelmingly hot but my boyfriend enjoyed the large amount of chili. While eating he began to sweat profusely which alarmed the restaurant manager who arrived with lots of tissue and another glass of tea. My boyfriend wasn't nearly as bothered by his red face and sweat and he continued to eat all of the soup. Maybe I would not recommend this restaurant for a romantic dinner if your date reacts strongly to chili.

Our friend preferred the dan dan mian with its sweet, savory and hot combination. It wasn't nearly as spicy as the chili oil la mian so he said it was perfect. Each bite had plenty of sauce and flavor. The only thing we didn't enjoy was that someone had cut up the la mian for us. I wish that they would have asked us first because we enjoy the noodles as they are made, which is very, very long strands. You can watch the kitchen staff making the la mian through a glass window waiting for your order.

We also ordered the xiao long bao and it did not disappoint. The quality is consistent every time and the dumplings are always hot and juicy with a very thin skin. The dumplings are quite delicate and you must be gentle when picking them up but the reward is a delicious, gelatinous pork broth and nicely seasoned meat.
Other Info. : Be prepared to wait for a few minutes during peak dining hours
