It has truly been a while that Kale has been missed, and is a whimsical rebirth with a slightly different menu in a totally different venue. Back in around 2 to 3 years ago, Kale was a petit cafe in Sheung Wan, which I have paid several visits for its burger sliders, creative desserts and salads. Nice vibes and an even broader view come along with the present location of Kale occupying the bar "Circo" in the daytime in a healthy but chic identity.

Grand and stylish deco with grey walls of industrial chic is not wasted by Kale who utilises this pub venue in daytime. With extremely high ceiling and sweeping vista of the Happy Valley Racecourse, consuming greens while looking at the greens cannot be any better.  The most comfortable seats go to the couch around the window, but of course the bar area is a choice as well. Without much polishing needed, the divine deco is no longer camouflaged by the dark and exposed to daylight for our appreciation.

No matter how I missed the moreish handmade desserts and petit burger sliders, I would love this revamped menu in a second.  Several kinds of well-mixed salad remains, with a choice of toppings in a lump sum of $98. Burger option is still here but I bet it should be a big one instead of a slider. To kill the chill, hot dish like Risotto and +$15 for a soup for any purchase of salad/burger well serve the purpose. I do hope that desserts (like Shrek!) will further beef up the exuberant menu, at least for cravings not on weekday lunch time but weekend.

Paying a visit twice during its soft opening period, I got to try its soup, two salads and one shake. Even without the 20% off discount, large portion and finely prepared salads lured me for my next visit. $98 for a salad may be slightly higher than the average in Causeway Bay, but is on par with Central's pricing. Nevertheless, given the large portion of salad, $98 is a worthy deal.

Pumpkin soup was just a $15 on top of my salad which outperformed what its value suggested. Flavour of a well-expected pumpkin soup was done right, but roasted pumpkin seeds made an elevated spin. Seeds remained crunchy after soaking in the stir, with its savory highlight dolling up the creamy and clean pumpkin taste. Not to underestimate the portion of soup despite serving in a paper cup,

Under the seared tuna steak laid my salad mix - with no particular dislike of any of the five selection of salads, I asked for all of the five kinds to be in my box! Portion of the whole salad was of course above expectation and satisfaction, and so was that of seared tuna steak. The long strip was sliced into six to seven mouthful pieces, the fulfilling portion of which lifts the C/P value up.

Unlike seared tuna ordered in Italian restaurants which are usually fully wrapped with sesame and appearing in greasy (though decadent) state, here it appeared to be rather clean and the aroma was mainly brought by the lightly charred exterior. Leaving the interior succulent and in violet red, slight addition of salt in the grilling process already put it to an utter freshness. Love the way how the healthy version of seared tuna was prepared!

Hard to list everything in the salad base, but it at least includes the famous kale, beetroot, orange slices in vinaigrette, quinoa, brown rice with dried cranberries, roasted pumpkin and even okra! Though sweet and savory items were in a mix without partition, they were blended beautifully and peacefully in every bite. With simple dressing, such a salad box was therefore encored at my second visit, surprisingly dolled up with edible flowers but tasting equally nice.

Having a mostly same salad mix as the base, what's different for my friend's box is the topping. Softly cooked chicken with balanced taste of paprika was so flavourful and didn't appear to be like any other bland and uninspring chicken breast. At the same cost of $98, I still prefer my tuna, though cajun chicken surprised us in its rustic yet fragrant texture.

Was curious to try its shake but was afraid of calories, thus I was recommended the most refreshing and fruity one in the list - the Kale Dyno. Having kale giving the green colouring, taste of this shake was an ideal refresher with apple and blueberry dominating the tangy and zesty taste. It wasn't as thick as I thought, so it didn't make me full with much salad left over.

Having a slightly different menu but serving hearty healthy dishes as before, Kale is probably the best hidden gem for salads in Causeway Bay now. Instead of a grab-n-go option, salads can be for enjoyment just like anything else, and one must not miss the picturesque views from here overseeing the greenery out there while chilling and relaxing on the couch. Spotting good salad place is always my pleasure, and Kale is undoubtedly on my list.
