I’ve been a fan of Dan Ryan’s since it opened in HK. For many years, my family and I frequented the restaurant and absolutely loved it, but the last visit was a big disappointment. The receptionist has a serious attitude problem. We didn’t have a reservation so she told us to wait. Then another Westerner family came and apparently had no reservation either. She asked them to wait too but within minutes she led them in. I was so shocked that she just forgot about us so I walked up to her and told her that we came first. Then she just made a face and said they had a reservation. I’m like, what? My dad and I heard clearly the guy said “A table for 4 pls”. There’s no reservation at all. Either she made a mistake and reluctant to admit, or this is discrimination against HKers!!!
Anyway, the food is still fine except that the potato skins, which used to be my favorite, is yet another disappointment. It’s just not as crispy and tasty as it used to be. I guess Dan Ryan’s really need to try harder in order to stay in the game.
