It was no surprise that the summer in Hong Kong is extremely ho, so what’s better to have a cold noodle! There has been a lot of Tempura Tendon Tenya brunches popping out lately, but I never had the chance to taste it. The one located at Hung Hom has a fair amount of wait time, so I recently had the pleasure of trying the Tempura Tendon Tenya and overall to my surprise, it was not bad at all. I am always a fan of noodle, and having to taste something cold in the summer is just priceless.
The dish had a perfect balance of flavor and textures. The noodles were cooked to perfection and had a nice chewy texture. I personally would recommend Somen over the Saba. The sauce was refreshing and had a nice tangy taste that complemented the noodles well. It also comes with some wasabi, which gives a kick to taste, and it was really delicious.
The only downside was that there aren’t many choices on the menu. They come usually in a combination of veggie and Ebi tempura, which some may not satisfy. However, they are not soggy at all, crispy outside and tender inside.
While it may not be the best tempura I have ever tasted, you must consider for the price you are paying. Tempura can be a really expensive dishes if you visit some authentic and high-end Japanese restaurant. So, to be able to price for a decent price to the general public, and with such taste. It is like a 10 out of 10 experiences, definitely gives you that comfort food experience during summer.
Overall, I would highly recommend Tempura Tendon Tenya to anyone looking for a refreshing and satisfying meal.
