To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. This restaurant has been here for a little while, and I’ve been coming back here for some time over the years. Typically, I’m not the one paying (thanks dad), so it’s harder to evaluate this place on a basis of value.

That said, the food here is quite good. The place is called 北京樓,so I think that the main feature of course is the Peking duck. It’s probably one of the better Peking ducks actually: the duck is well balanced in terms of fat and meat, and the taste is quite nice.

However, they have some other dishes too. In particular, I think the prawns are quite nice, and are always a popular choice. One of the interesting things about this spot is that you can receive a mini performance sometimes, since the chefs sometimes make noodles in front of the guests (the whole act takes maybe only a minute), but it’s kind of interesting, and might be the kind of thing tourists like, so keep that in consideration when picking a spot.
