San Nam Yuen has a couple of  branches in Hong Kong but they all serve chicken hot pot. But for some reason, their new branch in Wong Tai Sin doesn't offer this option. They instead offer dim sum and cha chan teng type items. Boyfriend was interested so I headed over to his neighbourhood for dim sum.Menu is in Chinese only. There is no English.  You pay on your way out.Char Siu Pastry was not that good. The char siu was sweet and tasted ok. But the pastry was terrible. A bit too doughy and thick

Beef Tripe with Ginger was fairly good. The tripe was soft and tender. Lots of ginger sauce.

Braised Chicken Feet was decent though the skin could have been more soft. There was soft taro on the bottom that boyfriend was pleased about.

Sticky Rice Packages with Minced Pork were tasty. Not too salty and lots of mince meat.

Lava Custard Bao were cute as anything. But the custard didin't really lava out. That was a disappointing. But the baos were soft and fluffy. And so cute!

Steamed Rice Rolls with Deep Fried Dough were ok. The rice wrap was a bit thick but not too bad. The deep fried dough was very crunchy.

Xiao Long Bao were just terrible. They were served on tin foil cups and were so over cooked, there was no soup in it. The meat was dry. Definitely do not order this.

Some of the dim sum wasn't too good but some were quite ok. Not great but ok. For a casual neighbourhood dim sum place, it was fine. Not great but fine. Friendly service as well and the place was clean. Wondering if they'll do hot pot later?
