Boyfriend and I were in Tai Koo area, unsure what to eat. We saw this place and decided to give it a try.Located inside a mall, the restaurant served Taiwanese food. Located inside a mall, the restaurant served Taiwanese food. Menu is in English and Chinese with plenty of photos. They have a two people dinner set that seemed like a bargain but I wasn't so keen on the dessert given so we went with a la cate. Later I found out this restaurant is by the Fairwood restaurant chain. I should have known.
Assorted Chinese Marinaded Items ($48). This included duck tongue, tofu and beef shank all marinaded with the basic Chinese marinade of five spices, soysauce and other things. It should be rich and flavorful. Instead what I got was just bland boiled meat. Everything was flavorless. Especially the tofu! Three Cup Chicken ($110). This was overly salty. The chicken was moist but the sauce ... It seemed like they just used soysauce and nothing else. It was so salty, I kept asking for my tea to be refilled.
Vegetable Dumplings with Noodles ($78). Sadly, this was the only thing actually edible. The noodles were al dente. The dumplings actually tasted alright. The skin wasn't too thick and the meat was tasty enough. Perhaps we should have just ordered noodles here and called it a day. Not great food with very rushed service. We sat down and someone immediately asked what we wanted. It felt very cha chan teng instead of a restaurant. I guess this place is geared more for people who live in the area and are too lazy to venture out of the mall. As I don't live in this area, I see no reason to return so I won't be back.
