A snack shop is the place to go if you want a snack rather than a full meal and whilst vegetarians in Hong Kong are pretty well served with restaurants there are less options when it comes to snacks. The Three Virtues snack shop is four floors below the restaurant proper, a little glass box of a store with a display cabinet of chinese snack food treats. Today I wanted lighter and less oily options so I asked for one of the leaf-wrapped rice parcels (I'm sure it has a name but I don't know it).

A tofu skin roll and a mini steamed sponge cake.

The rice parcel is really tasty, kind of meaty tasting despite being vegetarian. When you unwrap the paper and leaf you get to two blocks of sticky rice with a meaty, savoury filling. I don't know what it is but it's tasty.

The tofu skin rolls are a little oily by the time you get to the end of them but they are packed full of vegetables, mushrooms and rice vermicelli which means that the textures alone are interesting enough to keep eating.

The sponge cake is a pretty standard steamed sponge. A little sweet, not too sweet and somehow a good palette cleanser after the grease.
