After a hearty late lunch, I noticed that a queue was forming up at this little stall near Times Square.I've seen this kind of snacks so many times when I pass by a bakery or a vegetarian stall and today somewhat made me feel like trying one. The prices are $8/1 piece, $15/2pieces, and $24/3pieces. I'm not really sure about that 3-piece price but I think I remember the owner offering me this deal. I ended up ordering a Thai cake and a Red bean steamed cake? ($15 for both). I honestly don't know

I've had this sweet before when I was in Thailand. So when I tried this one in HK, the texture wasn't as bouncy as what I was expecting but food qualities are different per country. At first, I didn't like it because it tasted weirdly indescribable. After some time, I eventually got used to eating it. It was good overall.

The next one was something that hit me close to home abit. They're steamed cakes made from a mixture of rice flour, lye and brown sugar topped with red beans. I was expecting this to be sweet but every bite of this was more like tasting coffee. I didn't mind either way though. Again, the texture here wasn't so good. It didn't hold out around the edges. And just when I thought I found a snack close to my home country, I got shot down with disappointment.
