But on this day, we came to the Mong Kok branch around 2 PM, a little after lunch time and we got a table within a reasonable amount of time.

Menu is in English and Chinese.  There is no 10% service charge. They offer sets and a la carte if you want extra. Sets include a bowl of rice, soup, kimchi or salad. You choose the weight of the meat. Extra portions of rice have no charge.

Ordering is done by scanning the QR code found at each table. You can also pay here as well making it completely contact free. The system does work very smoothly and they offer free wifi so you can access it easily. And the English menu is competely English. This is worth pointing out as most places I've been to that do this QR code ordering system only have English for some of the menu and set upgrades or certain specials are in Chinese only.

Each table has a set of condiments and sauces for seasoning your meat.

As it's purely solo dining, each person gets their own personal grill plate that you can adjust the heat on the side of the table.

All utensils are located in a neat little drawer underneath where they will slide the tray of food to you.

Then the tray of food is placed in the small area that is designed to place the tray of food. We ordered two sets to share so we could test out the different meat quality.

The soup was actually not miso soup but a regular dashi and nori soup. It was ok. Tasted like my dashi soup packages.

I had the salad. The lettuce was cold and crisp. A lot of Japanese salad dressing was added to it so it was well coated.

Boyfriend had the kimchi. It was not too spicy.

The Karubi and Harami Set ($70 for 100g). This is beef short plate (5 pieces) and outside skirt (2 pieces). Though cheaper cuts, it was still good quality especially the outside skirt.

Premium Karubi and Misuji Set ($95 for 100g). This is boneless short rib (2 pieces) and beef top blade (5 pieces). Usually when we go to these places, we always feel the higher quality ones are not much different than the lower quality. But it wasn't the case here. They actually were good and did taste a bit better than the cheaper set.

Beef quality was very good whether you chose the cheaper cut or the premium cut. So, if you don't want to spend too much, the cheaper cut is still worth your while. 100g is definitely not a lot for people who eat a lot. 200g might be more appropriate.  A pretty good option for people who dine alone and want something fast.
