This ice cream shop had been around CWB area for some time and in the past, I always had their matcha ice cream which was always outstanding.Seeing that they had a new chestnut parfait, I went one weekday afternoon to try out. It was not busy that afternoon and there were plenty of empty seats. I ordered their “Japanese Chestnut Mont Blanc with Soft Cream” priced at $89. It was opened to me to select my own choice of ice cream and I chose Uji Houjicha hoping this would elevate the chestnut Mont

The look of the parfait didn’t disappoint when it arrived. The top chestnut Mont Blanc cream was ultra light, almost feathery like, and it was so smooth and delicious

The Uji Houjicha ice cream was good with strong Houjicha taste. It was slightly on the sweet side but went really well with the chestnut Mont Blanc. Under the ice cream sat a sponge cake, then some small round biscuits, then a few mochi(s) and some strawberry jam at the bottom. This was the part which I thought some improvement would be desirable; the sponge cake was rather dry, and the strawberry jam at the bottom didn’t pair well with the rest of the elements in the cup and made the dessert far sweeter than necessary.

For an ice cream costing near $90, I thought that was a bit steep. At least, they should have provided a better quality sponge cake and some nutty biscuits to give the dessert a lift. Anyway, had to say the chestnut Mont Blanc cream on top was supremely good and was one of the best ones that I had so far.
