A small cafe in Sheung Wan, there were a number of cat-like decor throughout.
We arrived during afternoon tea time and they offered a tea set menu. Menu was in English and Chinese. What you get is a sandwich and choice of coffee for around $50. There is no 10% service charge.
They also have cake and other a la carte items. But when we were there, it appeared they only had muffins and had run out of cake.
The coffee menu had drawings of the the types of coffee they had available. I liked it and helps those that always wonder what has milk, etc.
I ordered a latte. It was quite decent. Smooth with a slight nutty taste. No acidity was detected. Temperature was just right. The ratio of milk to espresso was a bit off. I felt there was a bit too much milk added. Latte art was fine though a bit rough.
Boyfriend wanted something cold so he ordered an ice latte. There is a $3 addition if you want your coffee cold. I loved the cute little cat spoon! Coffee was decent though again a bit too much milk to espresso ratio. But boyfriend was happy camper when he discovered the sugar syrup packs were extra big in size.
I had the parma ham and brie on tomato bread ($48). Originally on the menu, it came with a croissant but you can change it to tomato bread with no extra charge. I decided to do that. It also came with a side of salad. The salad was ok with a light bit of dressing. I loved the tomato bread. A nice chewy crust with bits of sun dried tomato found in it. It went well with the parma ham and cheese. I know the menu said brie but this wasn't brie. It tasted more like emmental. I believe it was processed emmental? But I know it was not brie. Brie doesn't taste like that and it is not that texture at all. But other than the cheese mistake, it still tasted fine. And for $48, why complain?
Boyfriend had the creamy potato pie with bacon and egg ($58). The egg was sunny side up with the yolk still runny. The bacon was not the crispy kind but we have not been able to find crispy bacon any where in Hong Kong except Shake Shack. We have long since believed that is how Asians like their bacon. Not crispy and a bit chewy. The potato pie was pretty nice. There was some cheese sandwiched between as well.
Overall, the food was alright all at a reasonably cheap price. Decent enough coffee. The staff was friendly and overly chatty. Something that one looks forward to in a coffee shop. A definite surprise find when we were trapped in the rain.
