One of the few remaining branches of Shanghai Po Po serving good Shanghai food at a reasonable price point.

Environment

Located at the top of the Landmark North shopping centre. Once you get off the escalator, you will pretty much instantly see it on your left hand side. It is a very open restaurant, quite spacious and overall a very casual restaurant. There’s nothing fancy about it; perfect to have a comfortable meal with family or friends after a long day of shopping downstairs.

Service

Friendly and attentive staff that brought us to our table almost immediately and took our orders when we were ready and were not pushy at all. A nice touch was its efforts of good hygiene, having tableware upside down and sitting customers not close together. They were also quick to refill tea and take away used plates.

Food

A good selection of food is provided here, from rice and noodles to little pork dumplings and a variety of seafood. We ordered pork chop dan dan noodles, popo special fried rice and steamed pork dumplings. The pork chop was excellent with the meat being extremely moist, the outside extremely crispy and was very well seasoned. The dan dan noodles was slightly disappointing. The noodles were average and the soup felt watered down with very little nutty flavour. The popo special fried rice looked like it would be too strong in flavour but was surprisingly well balanced as well as flavourful with a good variety of meats. Lastly, the steamed pork dumplings was definitely on point. Served with vinegar, the dumplings contained a burst of tasty soup and tender meat. Definitely one of the best dishes we had on the day.

Overall, a good experience. Tasty Chinese cuisine at a good price point in a comfortable environment. If you want some typical safe Shanghai food, you can’t go wrong by choosing this restaurant.
