Huas Dim Sum opened a few months ago around the corner from our house. We tried it about two weeks after it opened and it was fine with pretty standard dim sum options and standard pricing. Today, we were too lazy to walk too far, so we decided to try it again. The dim sum was absolutely terrible. Strangely, it's like they have a Western chef who is trying to make Chinese food. The chef does very odd things like add corn to many of the dishes (vegetarian dumplings and char siu cheung fun); add fish roe on top of many dishes that do not need it (such as the kimchi dumplings); and add broccoli as a decorative element on each dish (when is broccoli ever included in dim sum??). In addition, the skin of all of the dumplings was too thick and sticky and the cheung fun was primarily just rice roll with a major skimp on the fresh ingredients inside (for example, the char siu cheung fun also had zuchhini in it as a filler). The sin cheuk goon (beancurd skin roll) and the gwun tong gau (large dumpling in soup) were oversteamed (though these were the two best items). The restaurant was full of people but everyone was strangely quiet. It didn't have the usual din that dim sum restaurants have...  I think everyone was slowly realizing what we were - that the food was terrible, disappointing, and there is no reason to come back here.
