We started the meal with the crispy eel and 3 more cold dishes in a platter, the crispy eel is such a rare dish to appear on menu even for Northern Chinese restaurant. We then ordered the steamed honey ham, minced pork with the Chinese pastry, half a Peking duck, xiaolongbao, and the baked turnip pastry. Everything was amazingly executed, and we are very satisfied with all the food. We were very impressed with the pastry chef’s skills – their sesame pastry (for the minced pork) and the baked turnip pastry were very detail and tasty. The Peking duck for sure was good, skin is crispy enough but the meat just so juicy. The presentation of every single dish is just on point.
We then ordered 2 desserts – caramelized banana and souffle balls along with birthday peach buns, it looks so beautiful but such guilty pleasure. By the time all the desserts arrived, the staff helped us to take photos to capture such nice moment.
Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and went out of their way to ensure that I had a truly memorable experience, especially for Stanley – one of the managers there. The pace of the courses was well-timed, we weren’t late for work after the meal and we didn’t feel rushed between dish.
Overall, this birthday lunch for my friend at Peking Garden was an absolute delight. The quality of the food, the ambiance, and the outstanding service all combined to create a dining experience that I will not soon forget. By the time we are about to leave, the staff has our photo in framed along with a gift package of peach buns with ‘Peking Garden, Alexander House’ on it. It was an absolutely lovely surprise, as we did not know they provided such thoughtful souvenirs and experiences at all.
