I can’t thank my Colombian friends enough for taking me to Mexus for the first time a few months ago. Previously called Mamasita, Mexus doesa super friendly, tasty and original brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. I can’t thank my Colombian friends enough for taking me to Mexus for the first time a few months ago. Previously called Mamasita, Mexus does
a super friendly, tasty and original brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. I have to say, it’s quite refreshing after having been to lots of more “traditional”
brunch places serving breakfast staples, or western type boozy brunches (not that there is anything wrong with those!).  I suggest you to make a booking ahead as this place is quite popular. This time was my third time by the way, I can't believe I waited so lunch to write a review.

The brunch at Mexus costs HK$338 per person and gets you:

-         Unlimited starters/desserts buffet
-         Unlimited all day breakfast items (mostly egg items, any way you like it)
-         Unlimited tacos cooked on the spot
-         Unlimited seafood paella
-         One main per person

Adding the free flow package brings the total cost to HK$506 (plus service charge) and I would seriously recommend it as it includes
sparkling wine, red/white wine and refreshing sangria. You can of course opt for the non-alcoholic package, but why would you?

The Chef is a very nice Mexican guy, super friendly and always comes to your table when you first arrive to take you through the menu
briefly. He always wears his Mexican hat, and he is the one cooking the eggs for you on a portable stove near the buffet.
He has a whole team of cooks at the back in the actual kitchen to keep things running.

The tacos are rather small BUT pretty good. My favourite is the fish taco, with nice and crispy fried fish. Not oily at all and very well
seasoned. The least overwhelming tacos would be the veggie ones for me, but I’m a meat eater so I’m biased.
The starters buffet is awesome: from fresh seafood to charcuterie, salad ingredients and ready made tasty starters mostly consisting
of fresh salads. They also make their own nachos and an array of great dips (guacamole, spicy beans, tomatillo, baba ganoush, hummus, etc..).
Their ceviche is amazing!
The paella is very nice and they can make it in different sizes.
The mains are pretty good but not the focus for me since there's already so much goodness in the unlimited categories. They do have a pretty good looking burger though if you're up for it.
Last but not least: the desserts buffet! A small-ish selection but very Mexican and very good. They make a killer “Tres Leches”, the best I’ve ever had.

The service is very good and they are not fussy about refilling your glass at all. To be honest, we actually could never track how many glasses we had!

The deco is very cool, with gorgeous colorful tiles and a latino ambiance.

I seriously think Mexus is my favourite brunch in town. Go try it! Lunch or dinner is probably worth it too. And if this is recommended by a latin American friend, it can’t be bad.

Buen provecho
