I'm the type of person who cares much more about the taste and quality of food rather than environment and service. But my experience at 798 really makes me rethink this because the poor serviceat 798 has spoiled my entire dining experience. I went there with a friend on Sat and ordered the Lobster macaroni and cheese while my friend got the Spaghetti carbonara and we also added a dessert. The waiter who took our order seemed really nice and friendly.
The wine came, the spaghetti came... my friend started to eat his spaghetti after waiting for a while for my dish to come... then he finished his dish, and there was still no trace of my macaroni. After half an hour of waiting, we finally asked the manager, and he said that they were out of stock!
My friend and I both stared at him, said the previous waiter who took our order never said so! I had been waiting half an hour to eat and nobody told me about this! And this manager just stared at us blankly, (obviously with nothing to say) and then he walked away. He didn't offer us anything to apologize, any other restaurant would have given us free dessert or wine or something!
I was in no mood to order anything else. So my friend just finished the dessert (because I was too angry to eat any of it) and we left.
I was extremely hungry when I left the restaurant. It was around $100 each only because my dish hadn't come. I can't comment on the food because they hadn't served me anything. It was such a terrible dining experience. Just sad.
