Tonkla Thai Snack was a hidden little Thai place in North Point. But it suddenly closed shop and we were a bit sad over it as it did great Thai. But one day, while walking along North Point, we came across it again! Apparently it had moved to a new location! It was still just as small but it now had air conditioning!Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. There are literally two people working there. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. There are literally two people working there. The girl will take your orders. And then there is the one lone chef in the back. As there is only one person in the kitchen, it takes a long while for your food to arrive.
I had a Thai ice milk tea ($20). It was not too sweet and the tea was very fragrant.
We shared Pork and Chicken satay ($15 each). The satay sauce was really good. Thick and savory with a nice taste of peanut. It was rich and flavorful. The pork and chicken meat were juicy though the pork taste better.
I had the Pad Thai ($60). The rice noodles were fresh. The sauce was great. A mix of sour and sweet. The shrimp was fresh and firm. It came with a spicy sauce that you can add if you want it spicy.
Boyfriend had the Green Curry Fried Rice with Pork ($60). He loved it. It was spicy. At least too spicy for me but it was fine for him. The rice was nicely fried and coated with rich curry spices. There was some green beans mixed in it to give it a crunchy texture.
Food is excellent. Prices aren't expensive. Service if friendly and with this new location, there is no air conditioning! Will definitely be back!
