Bday dinner gathering for Grumpy. Convenient parking at building. Waited a long time for elevator. 4 private rooms. Think we got the biggest one, supposedly seating 17/18 but we had 15, which was just right. Rainbow Crackers as appetisers.
堂灼鮑魚- server blanched the slices of abalone in the pot of chicken soup (which had been pre-cooked for 5-6 hours) at the table. Warned to eat the slices whilst they were still hot. After being done with the abalone, server served up the soup, which went very well with the accompanying bean sprouts.
泡沫日本帶子- the foam had a garlicky taste to it; went well with the pan-fried scallop and cream sauce.
芝士龍蝦多士- first time trying lobster on toast, which was quite yummy: toast was crispy; Lobster tasted fresh and buttery.
口水西瓜蝦- compliments from the chef. I didn’t eat spicy but everyone thought the watermelon paired very well with the spicy sauce.
黑松露海蝦
金湯千絲- being shreds of celtuce (萵筍) in pumpkin soup.
手刴肉餅籠仔蒸蟹飯- a very theatrical display; everyone was amazed at the size of the steamer necessary to make such a gigantic piece of minced pork.
龍王乾坤魚, upgraded to 老虎斑; half steamed on a bed of bean curd etc and half deep fried.
秘製炸乳鴿: babies.
火山排骨: essentially piled stewed ribs served with Thai-style sweet and sour chili sauce. Felt like we were eating 湯渣. Not a fan.
特色麵- dome shaped deep fried noodles with seafood. Given a “hammer” to break open the prices. Texture was great: very crispy. Tasted really good with the chicken broth on the side.
楊枝甘露- served inside 煎堆shells
拔絲士多啤梨- hilight of the night; everyone helped themselves to the sugary strands; didn’t even wanna wait for server to fork up the strawberries individually for us.
In summary: a theatrical treat. Amused by the ginormous plating, artistic displays and creative flavors combinations.
